Having evolved from a School of Music collection of scores and sound recordings to a formal satellite library operated by a full-time professional music librarian, a part-time employee, and several student assistants, the library continues its tradition of service to the faculty, staff, and students of Stetson University.

In addition to music reference works and sets of composers’ complete works, the library houses scores, sound recordings, student and faculty recital recordings, a collection of secular and sacred sheet music, and a set of reproductions of the songs, compositions, and arrangements of Stephen Collins Foster. Other music-related materials including circulating books, videos, periodicals and printed periodical indexes are housed in the duPont-Ball Library.

The Jenkins Library provides listening stations for CD’s, LP’s, cassette tapes, DVD’s, and videocassettes. The catalogs of both libraries may be accessed via the Sirsi Unicorn System (Webcat) from the lab and any other networked computer on campus. Housed in the same space is the Music Lab (under IT supervision), consisting of fifteen Macintosh iMac computers. From the lab computers, students and faculty may access the Internet, Webcat, music software, and e-mail. We now have subscriptions to three streaming audio databases: Naxos Music Library, which includes more than 5,000 CD's from the Naxos catalog, Classical Music Library, and DRAM.

Library hours will be posted on the bulletin board outside the Music Library. During the August-May academic year, we are open from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday. Vacation and holiday hours vary. Hours during the summer sessions depend on courses taught.

The library staff consists of Jean Wald, Music Librarian and Allison Merkey, Part-time Assistant.
