Upper-Class Communities

Each of our residential buildings offers a unique combination of housing styles, room types, and bathroom setups—and those details directly relate to the housing rate. This section breaks down the different styles you’ll see listed across our buildings so you can better understand what those terms mean and what kind of living experience to expect. Once you’ve reviewed the options here, you’ll be able to make more informed choices as you explore the specific building pages.

Housing Style

Traditional
Traditional housing includes a single bedroom that is not connected to any other rooms or bathrooms. These rooms are located in residential halls with community-style bathrooms shared among residents on the floor.

Suite-Style & Houses
Suite-style housing connects two bedrooms via a shared full bathroom. In some layouts—such as those in the Sorority Houses, Chaudoin Hall, and Emily Hall—two bedrooms are joined by a bathroom. In others, like Hatter Hall, two bedrooms connect to a shared bathroom through a small foyer or hallway. Our campus also includes residential houses that support Living-Learning Communities and Greek Life chapter houses. These houses vary in layout but commonly include shared or suite-style bathrooms, a full kitchen, and communal living spaces.

Apartment Style
Apartment-style housing includes both full apartments and studio units. Full apartments offer one or more bedrooms, one or more bathrooms, a kitchen, and a living room. Studio apartments combine a bedroom, living space, and kitchen in one room and include a private bathroom.

Bedroom Style

Shared Bedroom
A shared bedroom houses two students and includes two full sets of residential furniture. Residents may also share a bathroom or living space with suitemates or apartment-mates depending on the housing style.

Individual Bedroom
An individual bedroom houses one student and includes one full set of residential furniture. While the student does not have a roommate, they may share other living areas with suitemates or apartment-mates.

Large Individual Bedroom
These were originally designed as shared bedrooms and include two full sets of furniture. When used as an individual room, one student is assigned and may use all of the furniture. The student will not have a roommate but may have suitemates or apartment-mates depending on the housing style.

Bathroom Type

Community Bathroom
Community bathrooms are found in traditional residence halls. These bathrooms are not connected to any bedrooms and are shared by multiple residents on the floor. Each includes multiple toilets, showers, and sinks to support the floor’s population. Floors are assigned by gender, and all-gender restrooms are available in these areas for guest use.

Suite Bathroom
Found in suite-style housing and residential houses, these bathrooms are shared between two or more bedrooms. They typically include a vanity, one or two sinks, a toilet, and a full shower.

Shared Bathroom
Shared bathrooms are located in apartment-style housing and are used by residents of multiple bedrooms within the apartment. These typically include a double-sink vanity, toilet, and full shower.

Private Bathroom
Private bathrooms are assigned to one bedroom and used only by the resident(s) of that room. These are most common in one-bedroom apartments, University Hall, and some residential houses. Each private bathroom includes a sink, vanity, toilet, and full shower.

Semi-Private & Shared Bathrooms
This bathroom style is only available in the two-person, individual bedroom apartments at Stetson Cove. Each apartment includes a full shared bathroom accessible to both residents. In addition, one of the bedrooms has an attached semi-private half bathroom that includes a vanity, sink, and toilet.
