Updating Personal Information

In support of all identities throughout our student, staff, and faculty communities, members across Stetson Unviersity's campuses may update the following information within minutes through the Personal Information icon in MyStetson:

  • Preferred Name/Chosen Name (including email display name)  
  • Personal Pronouns 
  • Gender Identity 
  • Emergency Contact 
  • Cell Phone

Please allow up to 24 hours for the changes to be reflected in any applicable University-related systems.

Updating Personal Information FAQ

  • Log into MyStetson 
  • Click the icon that looks like a person in the upper right corner 
  • Click Personal Info 
  • Click the Personal Information image in the center of your screen 
  • You can edit anything with the small pencil icon next to it 
  • Be sure to click “update” on anything you want to change  
  • Items without the pencil icon may still be updated. Please contact [email protected] for assistance.

The information will be updated across most university systems within 24 hours. Right now, the changes are partially reflected in the degree audit system, and we are working to complete the update as smoothly as possible. We will notify the community once the update is fully integrated.

Email display names will automatically be updated as part of this process. However, your username and email address will remain unchanged to ensure continued access to all systems.

Stetson values your identity. In order to affirm who you are, we want to be able to call you by the name you prefer. We strive to consistently use your internal (preferred/chosen) first name when we communicate to you or about you with other members of the Stetson community. 

Stetson values your privacy. In accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA), Stetson uses your given name when communicating about you to anyone outside of the Stetson community, e.g., when your parent or guardian calls the One Stop, when your name appears in a press release, on your bill, the official classroom roster, the address label on a letter.

To change your external name, you must have legal documentation. You will need to complete a Name Change Request Form from and submit it to the Registrar's Office with appropriate documentation confirming the legal name change. 

As part of your Application for Graduation, you provide how you wish to have your name printed on your diploma. To change your name after submitting your Application for Graduation, please email [email protected] and provide your ID number and your name exactly as you wish it to be printed on your diploma. 

To purchase a replacement for a previously printed diploma, which will include your updated name, please submit the Request for Replacement Diploma
