Study Abroad in Athens - Greece

About

The Stetson University School of Business Administration is excited to host a Study Abroad trip to Athens, Greece, from February 27 to March 8, 2026. We are partnering with the Hellenic American University to host us in Athens. The Hellenic American University operates two campuses; one in Nashua, New Hampshire and one in Athens, Greece and is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE). The Athens Campus is located in walking distance from the Acropolis, the Parliament, ancient Greek and Roman agoras, and the first modern Olympic stadium. Greece, the birthplace of democracy and cradle of Western civilization, offers extraordinary opportunities for a rich learning experience. Yet, Athens is also a vibrant modern metropolis that remains affordable, safe, and friendly.

The trip is scheduled for Spring Break 2026 and is open to all Stetson students. All students who attend will receive a cultural credit and an experiential learning credit. This trip is also being taught in conjunction with International Business and Culture (INTL 201) or SOBA 290.  All students are required to enroll in one of these courses to attend the trip. Those who are enrolled in INTL 201 (in the Spring) will receive adjusted course requirements.

A chartered bus will depart from Athens International Airport at 5:30 p.m. to transport the group to the hotel. All participants are welcome to join this group transfer, regardless of their selected flight.

If your flight arrives after 5:30 p.m., you will need to arrange your own transportation to the hotel. The two most common options are:

 Ride Share (Uber or similar)

  • Convenience: Door-to-door service directly from the airport.
  • Cost: Approximately $50 (€45–€50), depending on traffic and time of day.
  • Notes: Fast and easy, but typically the most expensive option.
  • This option is more affordable if 2-3 students share a ride and split the cost.  Please contact Dale Peterson if you are interested in connecting with other students who are interested in sharing a ride to the hotel.

 Public Transportation (Metro Rail)

  • Route: Take Metro Line M3 (Blue Line) from the airport toward the city center (Syntagma Station). From there, it’s about a 10-minute taxi or 20-minute walk to the hotel.
    • Please note that the walk from the Syntagma Station to our hotel (St. George) is mostly uphill with several staircases.  This walk is very difficult if it is done with luggage.  Requesting a short Ride Share to connect you from Syntagma Station to the hotel is highly recommended.
  • Cost: Around $8 (€9) per person.
  • Notes: This is a very affordable option but requires some familiarity with the Athens Metro system and ticket machines.

Registration & Scholarship

You can begin your application for this trip at the World Website
Space is limited to the first 25 students who submit their trip deposit.  This trip has reached capacity the past 2 years.

Make sure to apply for the WORLD scholarship. If you apply for this scholarship in the fall semester (deadline October 1), you can use it for the Athens, Greece Spring Break Study Abroad trip.

Helpful tips for the WORLD Scholarship:

  • Once you have written your response, read over it again to ensure it truly answers the question asked.
  • Make sure to check for proper grammar and spelling. If you are having difficulties, have a friend review it, use an online spelling and grammar checker, or even schedule a meeting with the writing center!

In addition to the WORLD Scholarship, all students are invited to apply for a School of Business Administration travel scholarship.  All students (regardless of their major) are invited to apply.
