Robert Maglievaz

Assistant Professor of Public Health

Robert Maglievaz is an assistant professor of practice for the public health program. He is passionate about introducing a new generation of students to the public health sciences and how they are utilized to save lives and make positive differences in the world around them. His courses incorporate real-world examples of public health in action to emphasize key learning objectives while utilizing experiential-based approaches to convey the knowledge and skills required for students to succeed in these careers.

Biography

Professor Maglievaz brings over 30 years of public health experience to Stetson University. Prior to his current role as associate professor of practice, he had a comprehensive public health career as a health inspector, technical consultant, trainer, and program/department administrator for several environmental and public health regulatory agencies. In addition to regulatory and program administration experience, Professor Maglievaz has extensive experience in the public health aspects of disaster response and emergency operations.

His commitment to public health has included professional contributions in a variety of capacities. He has served on several local, state, national, and international advisory committees for the creation and revision of model health codes, safety regulations, environmental standards, and certification exams. He has also developed and taught a variety of continuing education seminars and trainings for public health professionals and the public on a variety of environmental health topics. His current research interest involves working with local food banks and pantries to improve public health outcomes for those experiencing food insecurity in Volusia County.
